Doing what you love is NOT selfish

So many of us feel frustrated. We do things we don't like and believe that it's being the harsh reality of life. We lie to ourselves saying that 'things have changed', 'it's impossible' and living in the past with our best-friend phrases 'I wish I could', 'If only' etc.

We are so consumed by what others think yet we do care very little about what we think. It seems like other people's opinions have so much power on us and that our lives depend on whether the world
approves of our thoughts and decisions.

While trying to please others, we loose our soul, spirit and sometimes heart. We decide to put our happiness in their hands and pray for their consent.

Life's truly too short to be wasted and I am a fervent believer that there's a way to every problem and situation. If your heart tells you that you should be doing something and it occupies your mind, then this should not be overlooked. As long as it's noble and not hurting anyone or yourself, then you should listen to your guts.

I meet a lot of people who wish they could start a business, be independent, live in another country, travel the world, and they find the most articulate excuses not to. I truly cannot judge them. We, for the most part, grew up waiting for the go-ahead of our parents, teachers, spouse(s), bosses and making mechanical thoughts and decisions. Taking ownership of one's life can take time and sometimes it never happen.

Don't get me wrong. Making people happy is important but clearly not at the expense of one's own inner desires, goals and life purpose. A happy human being is able to give far more than just a regular one. One who's fulfilled will find ways to fulfill others, bring value to their lives, improve the living of their communities and societies. Deciding to decide for yourself is NOT selfish. It's a way to dig in for the treasures you're hiding that are yet to be discovered.

Cherish yourself. Feel yourself. Be yourself.

QUESTION : What's stopping from doing what you love and being yourself? And when would you like to start to live the life you want?

Before you get out of bed and chase your dreams....

Here I am back from a mini vacation. As a read, I took Unlimited Power by Tony Robbins. Self-development books are great because they help you reboot your life in a matter of a few seconds, minutes, hours… What is interesting about the new phenomena of self-development and the Secret effect is that everyone now talks about gratitude and how important it is to be grateful for what you have before you ask for more or better. It is true that we spend our time looking for what we don’t have and we love comparing ourselves with others. Self-help books authors are right to suggest that one should implement gratitude exercises on a daily basis so s/he is aware of his/her given talents, resources and assets in life. It is a proven way that one will live happier and less miserable. To be honest, I didn’t need to read it from Tony or Ronda. Gratitude is something we are taught to ever since we are small children. After finishing a meal, you should say ‘hamdoullah’. Hamdoullah isn...
