My top business and personal development books

We all know that books shape our lives. I love reading. It's one of the things I enjoy the most. When I
used to be back in Houston, DC and London, I used to spend hours in libraries and bookstores. Paper is still my thing and I can hardly read a book on a screen. I guess I like the smell of the paper I can only get through reading a real book.
In this article, I am giving you the top books (in no particular order) that have helped me grow and learn about business and life. I have read many books but these are the ones that made it to the top. This list may get longer as I read more books.

1. The Secret: This book was offered to me by my good friend John Purkiss. At the time, I had no idea about what the law of attraction was, although I was actually using it in my daily life. Today to me, this book, written by Rondha Byrne, is a classic and a must-read. It helps you see the world in a total different way and definitely understand that anything is possible.

2. The four-hour work-week: Oh my God! This is like the best of the best. When I read it in 2006, my boss, at the time, thought it was total insanity and didn't even want to hear about it. I find the book yummy. It inspired me a lot to work the way I do now and live the life I have. I am very grateful to Tim Ferriss, the author, for all the tips he shared in his book. Although almost 10 years have passed, the information he gives is still valid today.

3. Unlimited Power: This book I have read and bought many copies of that I gave away to friends and family. I urge you to read this book which tackles all aspects of your life from health and business to love and relationships. Needless to say that Tony Robbins is one of my favorite mentors (although I have never met him) and the book is jam packed with useful facts, stories and tips on living your life to the fullest and on your own terms.

4. The Success Principles: I find this book very practical and helpful. I like Jack Canfield's style and the stories he shares in this book. The idea is to help you go from where you are to where you want to be. And Canfield does it well helping the reader walk through the steps that need to be taken to achieve goals and dreams. Love this book!

5. The Aladdin Factor: This is another Jack Canfield's books that helped me open my eyes about a simple concept which is asking. I won't tell you more because truly this book is an eye-opener on why we don't get what we want. After reading the book (or listening to it like I did), you will use the tools more easily and see miracles happen in your life.

6. Brand You: Here John Purkiss talks about how anyone of us is a brand how we should use it to become more visible and memorable. Prior to reading this book, I had never thought that we were brands just like products. This book helped me be aware of everything about and around me which can and does communicate something about me or my business.

7. Screw it, let's do it: This book was so inspiring in a way that we see business being done in an usual way. Richard Branson talks about how he started as a student and ended up being an empire. It may sound all unreal in today's world but I enjoyed reading his stories and anecdotes which once again is mind and eye opener. This book will give you some lessons in life and business and inspire you to push your limits.

8. All in the mind: Powerful concept that everything starts with a thought. In this book, John Purkiss talks about how our focus shapes our reality, the here and now, the law of unity etc. After reading this book, I have understood that nothing is either black or white. Our minds and thoughts shape our reality and we should create the right environment for good thoughts to take place and work in our favor. Easy read!!

9. The Secrets of selling: If you're looking for a good sales book, this one I believe is the bible of sales books. Geoff King gives practical tips and information on how to conduct meeting, write a sales pitch, meet prospects, find new business, talk to the media etc. It's a reference book that I love having in my home library.

10. How to win friends and influence people: This book was recommended to me by a local Moroccan bookstore seller. This isn't the type of books I would usually pick up but he convinced me that it was a good read. Having done a degree in communication, most of the things Dale Carnegie talks about are a deja-vu in my courses but it's still a good refresher and principles one should apply daily for successful relationships.

11. The Contrarian's Guide to Leadership: Steven Sample writes about the qualities of a leader and stresses on the importance of having an open mind and be able to listen to successfully manage others. In a world where true leaders are lacking, this book offers great advice on decision making and action-taking that could be implemented on a daily basis. Great read!

12. Rich Dad. Poor Dad: I looove this book. In a time where I was wondering how do people make so much money and enjoy freedom, Robert Kiyosake came to answer my questions in his book. Here I learned about active and passive income, assets and liabilities and the cashflow quadrant. The sooner you will read it, the more time you'll save.

I am looking forward to reading next the Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss. I need to find a way to get it shipped here.

Train your mind to make you feel good

I was recently having a conversation with a friend who was complaining about how she doesn't have any help at home and that she hated all that house chores from cooking to cleaning etc. She spoke about the subject passionately and I could feel how she felt about it all. She also explained that she couldn't find anyone to give her a hand and that the potential candidates didn't want to work during summertime. Basically what I understood is that she's stuck. I could almost recommend her moving to a hotel room and being taken care of but I knew that wasn't an option. This made think about a good piece of advice that I heard in one of the audiobooks. Wayne Dyer said: 'If you're not doing what you love and loving what you do, you have 2 choices to make: 1) change what you're doing or 2) change how you feel about what you're doing. I believe that the second option is extremely powerful. While there's so much vibe about 'leaving your job and...
